Mark Kovacs, who coached at Shelton High School, is out of a job following the post - which has not been disclosed - according to a WTNH report. The nature of the post has not been disclosed.
According to reports, Kovacs was informed he was to be suspended, and resigned later in the day. The now-former coach has not released any statements or information regarding his departure.
"After becoming aware of some social media postings that appeared to be filled with bias, we communicated with the coach that he was suspended pending the outcome of an investigation into those posts,” Shelton Schools Superintendent Christopher Clouet stated. “Later in the day the coach submitted his resignation. The Shelton Public Schools district is committed to being inclusive and supportive of all of our students and their families."
The local NAACP branch is reportedly seeking to pursue an independent investigation that could lead to hate crime charges for Kovacs, according to USA Today.
